بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

Denial of Judgment and Cruelty 1–3
أَرَءَيۡتَاَرَءَيْتَHave you seen
ٱلَّذِيالَّذِيْthe one who
يُكَذِّبُdenies
بِٱلدِّينِبِالدِّيْنِthe Judgment
Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?
فَذَٰلِكَفَذٰلِكَThen that
ٱلَّذِيالَّذِيْ(is) the one who
يَدُعُّrepulses
ٱلۡيَتِيمَالْيَتِيْمَthe orphan
For that is the one who drives away the orphan
وَلَاAnd (does) not
يَحُضُّfeel the urge
عَلَىٰعَلٰيto
طَعَامِfeed
ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِالْمِسْكِيْنِthe poor
And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.
1 Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense? 2 For that is the one who drives away the orphan 3 And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.
Hypocrisy in Prayer 4–7
فَوَيۡلٞفَوَيْلٌSo woe
لِّلۡمُصَلِّينَلِّلْمُصَلِّيْنَto those who pray
So woe to those who pray
ٱلَّذِينَالَّذِيْنَThose who
هُمۡهُمْ[they]
عَنعَنْabout
صَلَاتِهِمۡصَلَاتِهِمْtheir prayers
سَاهُونَسَاهُوْنَ(are) neglectful
[But] who are heedless of their prayer -
ٱلَّذِينَالَّذِيْنَThose who
هُمۡهُمْ[they]
يُرَآءُونَيُرَا࢜ءُوْنَmake show
Those who make show [of their deeds]
وَيَمۡنَعُونَوَيَمْنَعُوْنَAnd they deny
ٱلۡمَاعُونَالْمَاعُوْنَ[the] small kindnesses
And withhold [simple] assistance.
4 So woe to those who pray 5 [But] who are heedless of their prayer - 6 Those who make show [of their deeds] 7 And withhold [simple] assistance.
