Opening Introduction to the Merciful's Favors 1–4

Ayah 1

1. ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُاَلرَّحْمٰنُThe Most GraciousNominative · مَرْفُوع

The Most Merciful

Ayah 2

1. عَلَّمَHe taughtPerfect · Form II
2. ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَالْقُرْاٰنَthe QuranAccusative · مَنْصُوب

Taught the Qur’ān,

Ayah 3

1. خَلَقَHe createdPerfect · Form I
2. ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَالْاِنْسَانَ[the] manAccusative · مَنْصُوب

Created man,

Ayah 4

1. عَلَّمَهُHe taught himPerfect · Form II
2. ٱلۡبَيَانَالْبَيَانَ[the] speechAccusative · مَنْصُوب

[And] taught him eloquence.

Cosmic Order and Justice in Measure 5–13

Ayah 5

1. ٱلشَّمۡسُاَلشَّمْسُThe sunNominative · مَرْفُوع
2. وَٱلۡقَمَرُوَالْقَمَرُand the moonNominative · مَرْفُوع
3. بِحُسۡبَانٖبِحُسْبَانٍby (precise) calculationGenitive · مَجْرُور

The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation,

Ayah 6

1. وَٱلنَّجۡمُوَّالنَّجْمُAnd the starsNominative · مَرْفُوع
2. وَٱلشَّجَرُوَالشَّجَرُand the treesNominative · مَرْفُوع
3. يَسۡجُدَانِيَسْجُدٰنِboth prostrateImperfect · Form I

And the stars and trees prostrate.

Ayah 7

1. وَٱلسَّمَآءَوَالسَّمَا࢜ءَAnd the heavenAccusative · مَنْصُوب
2. رَفَعَهَاHe raised itPerfect · Form I
3. وَوَضَعَand He has set upPerfect · Form I
4. ٱلۡمِيزَانَالْمِيْزَانَthe balanceAccusative · مَنْصُوب

And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance

Ayah 8

1. أَلَّااَلَّاThat notHarf of interpretation · حَرْف تَفْسِير
2. تَطۡغَوۡاْتَطْغَوْاyou may transgressImperfect · Form I
3. فِيinPreposition · حَرْف جَرّ
4. ٱلۡمِيزَانِالْمِيْزَانِthe balanceGenitive · مَجْرُور

That you not transgress within the balance.

Ayah 9

1. وَأَقِيمُواْوَاَقِيْمُواAnd establishImperative · Form IV
2. ٱلۡوَزۡنَالْوَزْنَthe weightAccusative · مَنْصُوب
3. بِٱلۡقِسۡطِبِالْقِسْطِin justiceGenitive · مَجْرُور
4. وَلَاand (do) notProhibition Harf · حَرْف نَهْي
5. تُخۡسِرُواْتُخْسِرُواmake deficientImperfect · Form IV
6. ٱلۡمِيزَانَالْمِيْزَانَthe balanceAccusative · مَنْصُوب

And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance.

Ayah 10

1. وَٱلۡأَرۡضَوَالْاَرْضَAnd the earthAccusative · مَنْصُوب
2. وَضَعَهَاHe laid itPerfect · Form I
3. لِلۡأَنَامِلِلْاَنَامِfor the creaturesGenitive · مَجْرُور

And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures.

Ayah 11

1. فِيهَافِيْهَاThereinPreposition · حَرْف جَرّ
2. فَٰكِهَةٞفَاكِهَةٌ(is) fruitNominative · مَرْفُوع
3. وَٱلنَّخۡلُوَّالنَّخْلُand date-palmsNominative · مَرْفُوع
4. ذَاتُhavingNominative · مَرْفُوع
5. ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِالْاَكْمَامِsheathsGenitive · مَجْرُور

Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates]

Ayah 12

1. وَٱلۡحَبُّوَالْحَبُّAnd the grainNominative · مَرْفُوع
2. ذُوhavingNominative · مَرْفُوع
3. ٱلۡعَصۡفِالْعَصْفِhuskGenitive · مَجْرُور
4. وَٱلرَّيۡحَانُوَالرَّيْحَانُand scented plantsGenitive · مَجْرُور

And grain having husks and scented plants.

Ayah 13

1. فَبِأَيِّفَبِاَيِّSo whichGenitive · مَجْرُور
2. ءَالَآءِاٰلَا࢜ءِ(of the) favorsGenitive · مَجْرُور
3. رَبِّكُمَا(of) your LordGenitive · مَجْرُور
4. تُكَذِّبَانِتُكَذِّبٰنِwill you both denyImperfect · Form II

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

The Origins of Humans and Jinn 14–16

Ayah 14

1. خَلَقَHe createdPerfect · Form I
2. ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَالْاِنْسَانَthe manAccusative · مَنْصُوب
3. مِنمِنْfromPreposition · حَرْف جَرّ
4. صَلۡصَٰلٖصَلْصَالٍclayGenitive · مَجْرُور
5. كَٱلۡفَخَّارِكَالْفَخَّارِlike the potteryGenitive · مَجْرُور

He created man from clay like [that of] pottery.

Ayah 15

1. وَخَلَقَAnd He createdPerfect · Form I
2. ٱلۡجَآنَّالْجَا࢜نَّthe jinnAccusative · مَنْصُوب
3. مِنمِنْfromPreposition · حَرْف جَرّ
4. مَّارِجٖمَّارِجٍa smokeless flameGenitive · مَجْرُور
5. مِّنمِّنْofPreposition · حَرْف جَرّ
6. نَّارٖنَّارٍfireGenitive · مَجْرُور

And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.

Ayah 16

1. فَبِأَيِّفَبِاَيِّSo whichGenitive · مَجْرُور
2. ءَالَآءِاٰلَا࢜ءِ(of the) favorsGenitive · مَجْرُور
3. رَبِّكُمَا(of) your LordGenitive · مَجْرُور
4. تُكَذِّبَانِتُكَذِّبٰنِwill you both denyImperfect · Form II

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
