بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

Ruku 1 of 1 · 8 Ayahs

The Distraction of Worldly Rivalry 1–4

أَلۡهَىٰكُمُاَلْهٰىكُمُDiverts you
ٱلتَّكَاثُرُالتَّكَاثُرُthe competition to increase

Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you

حَتَّىٰحَتّٰيUntil
زُرۡتُمُزُرْتُمُyou visit
ٱلۡمَقَابِرَالْمَقَابِرَthe graves

Until you visit the graveyards.

كـَلَّاكَلَّاNay
سَوۡفَسَوْفَSoon
تَعۡلَمُونَتَعْلَمُوْنَyou will know

No! You are going to know.

ثُمَّThen
كـَلَّاكَلَّاnay
سَوۡفَسَوْفَSoon
تَعۡلَمُونَتَعْلَمُوْنَyou will know

Then, no! You are going to know.

1 Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you 2 Until you visit the graveyards. 3 No! You are going to know. 4 Then, no! You are going to know.

Accountability for Worldly Blessings 5–8

كـَلَّاكَلَّاNay
لَوۡلَوْIf
تَعۡلَمُونَتَعْلَمُوْنَyou know
عِلۡمَعِلْمَ(with) a knowledge
ٱلۡيَقِينِالْيَقِيْنِ(of) certainty

No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty...

لَتَرَوُنَّSurely you will see
ٱلۡجَحِيمَالْجَحِيْمَthe Hellfire

You will surely see the Hellfire.

ثُمَّThen
لَتَرَوُنَّهَاsurely you will see it
عَيۡنَعَيْنَ(with the) eye
ٱلۡيَقِينِالْيَقِيْنِ(of) certainty

Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.

ثُمَّThen
لَتُسۡـَٔلُنَّلَتُسْـَٔلُنَّsurely you will be asked
يَوۡمَئِذٍيَوْمَىِٕذٍthat Day
عَنِabout
ٱلنَّعِيمِالنَّعِيْمِthe pleasures

Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.

5 No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty... 6 You will surely see the Hellfire. 7 Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty. 8 Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.
