بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

The Army of the Elephant 1–5
أَلَمۡاَلَمْHave not
تَرَyou seen
كَيۡفَكَيْفَhow
فَعَلَdealt
رَبُّكَyour Lord
بِأَصۡحَٰبِبِاَصْحٰبِwith (the) Companions
ٱلۡفِيلِالْفِيْلِ(of the) Elephant
Have you not considered, [O Muḥammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?
أَلَمۡاَلَمْDid not
يَجۡعَلۡيَجْعَلْHe make
كَيۡدَهُمۡكَيْدَهُمْtheir plan
فِيفِيْgo
تَضۡلِيلٖتَضْلِيْلٍastray
Did He not make their plan into misguidance?
وَأَرۡسَلَوَّاَرْسَلَAnd He sent
عَلَيۡهِمۡعَلَيْهِمْagainst them
طَيۡرًاطَيْرًاbirds
أَبَابِيلَاَبَابِيْلَ(in) flocks
And He sent against them birds in flocks,
تَرۡمِيهِمتَرْمِيْهِمْStriking them
بِحِجَارَةٖبِحِجَارَةٍwith stones
مِّنمِّنْof
سِجِّيلٖسِجِّيْلٍbaked clay
Striking them with stones of hard clay,
فَجَعَلَهُمۡفَجَعَلَهُمْThen He made them
كَعَصۡفٖكَعَصْفٍlike straw
مَّأۡكُولِۭمَّاْكُوْلٍeaten up
And He made them like eaten straw.
1 Have you not considered, [O Muḥammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant? 2 Did He not make their plan into misguidance? 3 And He sent against them birds in flocks, 4 Striking them with stones of hard clay, 5 And He made them like eaten straw.
