The Joy of the Saved 19–24

فَأَمَّافَاَمَّاThen as for
مَنۡمَنْ(him) who
أُوتِيَاُوْتِيَis given
كِتَٰبَهُۥكِتٰبَهٗhis record
بِيَمِينِهِۦبِيَمِيْنِهٖۙin his right hand
فَيَقُولُفَيَقُوْلُwill say
هَآؤُمُهَا࢜و͏ٔ͏ُمُHere
ٱقۡرَءُواْاقْرَءُوْاread
كِتَٰبِيَهۡكِتٰبِيَهْmy record

So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record!

إِنِّياِنِّيْIndeed, I

أَنِّياَنِّيْthat I
مُلَٰقٍمُلٰقٍ(will) meet
حِسَابِيَهۡحِسَابِيَهْmy account

Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account."

فَهُوَSo he
فِيفِيْ(will be) in
عِيشَةٖعِيْشَةٍa life
رَّاضِيَةٖرَّاضِيَةٍpleasant

So he will be in a pleasant life -

فِيفِيْIn

In an elevated garden,

قُطُوفُهَاقُطُوْفُهَاIts clusters of fruits

Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near.

كُلُواْكُلُوْاEat

ٱلۡخَالِيَةِالْخَالِيَةِpast

[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past."

19 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 20 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 21 So he will be in a pleasant life - 22 In an elevated garden, 23 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 24 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past."

The Regret of the Doomed 25–29

وَأَمَّاوَاَمَّاBut as for
مَنۡمَنْ(him) who
أُوتِيَاُوْتِيَis given
كِتَٰبَهُۥكِتٰبَهٗhis record
بِشِمَالِهِۦبِشِمَالِهٖ࣢ۙin his left hand
فَيَقُولُفَيَقُوْلُwill say
يَٰلَيۡتَنِييٰلَيْتَنِيْO! I wish
لَمۡلَمْnot
أُوتَاُوْتَI had been given
كِتَٰبِيَهۡكِتٰبِيَهْmy record

But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record

وَلَمۡوَلَمْAnd not
أَدۡرِاَدْرِI had known
مَاwhat
حِسَابِيَهۡحِسَابِيَهْ(is) my account

And had not known what is my account.

يَٰلَيۡتَهَايٰلَيْتَهَاO! I wish it
كَانَتِhad been
ٱلۡقَاضِيَةَالْقَاضِيَةَthe end

I wish it [i.e., my death] had been the decisive one.

مَآمَا͏ٓNot
أَغۡنَىٰاَغْنٰيhas availed
عَنِّيعَنِّيْme
مَالِيَهۡۜمَالِيَهْmy wealth

My wealth has not availed me.

هَلَكَIs gone
عَنِّيعَنِّيْfrom me
سُلۡطَٰنِيَهۡسُلْطٰنِيَهْmy authority

Gone from me is my authority."

25 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 26 And had not known what is my account. 27 I wish it [i.e., my death] had been the decisive one. 28 My wealth has not availed me. 29 Gone from me is my authority."

Punishment of the Uncharitable Denier 30–37

خُذُوهُخُذُوْهُSeize him
فَغُلُّوهُفَغُلُّوْهُand shackle him

[Allāh will say], "Seize him and shackle him.

ثُمَّThen
ٱلۡجَحِيمَالْجَحِيْمَ(into) the Hellfire
صَلُّوهُصَلُّوْهُburn him

Then into Hellfire drive him.

ثُمَّThen
فِيفِيْinto

سَبۡعُونَسَبْعُوْنَ(is) seventy
ذِرَاعٗاذِرَاعًاcubits
فَٱسۡلُكُوهُفَاسْلُكُوْهُinsert him

Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him."

إِنَّهُۥاِنَّهٗIndeed, he
كَانَwas
لَاnot
يُؤۡمِنُيُو͏ٔ͏ْمِنُbelieving
بِٱللَّهِبِاللّٰهِin Allah
ٱلۡعَظِيمِالْعَظِيْمِthe Most Great

Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allāh, the Most Great,

وَلَاAnd (did) not
يَحُضُّfeel the urge
عَلَىٰعَلٰيon
طَعَامِ(the) feeding
ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِالْمِسْكِيْنِ(of) the poor

Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor.

فَلَيۡسَفَلَيْسَSo not
لَهُfor him
ٱلۡيَوۡمَالْيَوْمَtoday
هَٰهُنَاهٰهُنَاhere
حَمِيمٞحَمِيْمٌany devoted friend

So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend

وَلَاوَّلَاAnd not
طَعَامٌany food
إِلَّااِلَّاexcept
مِنۡمِنْfrom
غِسۡلِينٖغِسْلِيْنٍ(the) discharge of wounds

Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds;

لَّاNot
يَأۡكُلُهُۥٓيَاْكُلُهٗٓwill eat it
إِلَّااِلَّاexcept
ٱلۡخَٰطِـُٔونَالْخَاطِـُٔوْنَthe sinners

None will eat it except the sinners.

30 [Allāh will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 31 Then into Hellfire drive him. 32 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 33 Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allāh, the Most Great, 34 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 35 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 36 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 37 None will eat it except the sinners.
