Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment."
قَالَHe said
يَٰقَوۡمِيٰقَوْمِO my people
إِنِّياِنِّيْIndeed, I am
لَكُمۡلَكُمْto you
نَذِيرٞنَذِيْرٌa warner
مُّبِينٌمُّبِيْنٌclear
2
He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner -
أَنِاَنِThat
ٱعۡبُدُواْاعْبُدُواWorship
ٱللَّهَاللّٰهَAllah
وَٱتَّقُوهُوَاتَّقُوْهُand fear Him
وَأَطِيعُونِوَاَطِيْعُوْنِand obey me
3
To worship Allāh, fear Him and obey me.
يَغۡفِرۡيَغْفِرْHe will forgive
لَكُملَكُمْfor you
مِّنمِّنْ[of]
ذُنُوبِكُمۡذُنُوْبِكُمْyour sins
وَيُؤَخِّرۡكُمۡوَيُو͏ٔ͏َخِّرْكُمْand give you respite
إِلَىٰٓاِلٰٓيfor
أَجَلٖاَجَلٍa term
مُّسَمًّىۚمُّسَمًّيؕspecified
إِنَّاِنَّIndeed
أَجَلَاَجَلَ(the) term
ٱللَّهِاللّٰهِ(of) Allah
إِذَااِذَاwhen
جَآءَجَا࢜ءَit comes
لَاnot
يُؤَخَّرُۚيُو͏ٔ͏َخَّرُۘis delayed
لَوۡلَوْif
كُنتُمۡكُنْتُمْyou
تَعۡلَمُونَتَعْلَمُوْنَknow
4
He [i.e., Allāh] will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allāh, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew."
1 Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment." 2 He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner - 3 To worship Allāh, fear Him and obey me. 4 He [i.e., Allāh] will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allāh, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew."
And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance.
ثُمَّThen
إِنِّياِنِّيْindeed, I
دَعَوۡتُهُمۡدَعَوْتُهُمْinvited them
جِهَارٗاجِهَارًاpublicly

Then I invited them publicly.
ثُمَّThen
إِنِّيٓاِنِّيْٓindeed, I
أَعۡلَنتُاَعْلَنْتُannounced
لَهُمۡلَهُمْto them
وَأَسۡرَرۡتُوَاَسْرَرْتُand I confided
لَهُمۡلَهُمْto them
إِسۡرَارٗااِسْرَارًاsecretly
9
Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly
5 He said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day. 6 But my invitation increased them not except in flight [i.e., aversion]. 7 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 8 Then I invited them publicly. 9 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly
And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver.
يُرۡسِلِيُّرْسِلِHe will send down
ٱلسَّمَآءَالسَّمَا࢜ءَ(rain from) the sky
عَلَيۡكُمعَلَيْكُمْupon you
مِّدۡرَارٗامِّدْرَارًا(in) abundance
11
He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers
وَيُمۡدِدۡكُموَّيُمْدِدْكُمْAnd provide you
بِأَمۡوَٰلٖبِاَمْوَالٍwith wealth
وَبَنِينَوَّبَنِيْنَand children
وَيَجۡعَلوَيَجْعَلْand make
لَّكُمۡلَّكُمْfor you
جَنَّٰتٖجَنّٰتٍgardens
وَيَجۡعَلوَّيَجْعَلْand make
لَّكُمۡلَّكُمْfor you
أَنۡهَٰرٗااَنْهٰرًاrivers
12
And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.
10 And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. 11 He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers 12 And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.
What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allāh [due] grandeur
وَقَدۡوَقَدْAnd indeed
خَلَقَكُمۡخَلَقَكُمْHe created you
أَطۡوَارًااَطْوَارًا(in) stages
14
While He has created you in stages?
أَلَمۡاَلَمْDo not
تَرَوۡاْتَرَوْاyou see
كَيۡفَكَيْفَhow
خَلَقَdid create
ٱللَّهُاللّٰهُAllah
سَبۡعَسَبْعَ(the) seven
سَمَٰوَٰتٖسَمٰوٰتٍheavens
طِبَاقٗاطِبَاقًا(in) layers
15
Do you not consider how Allāh has created seven heavens in layers
وَجَعَلَوَّجَعَلَAnd made
ٱلۡقَمَرَالْقَمَرَthe moon
فِيهِنَّفِيْهِنَّtherein
نُورٗانُوْرًاa light
وَجَعَلَوَّجَعَلَand made
ٱلشَّمۡسَالشَّمْسَthe sun
سِرَاجٗاسِرَاجًاa lamp
16
And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp?
وَٱللَّهُوَاللّٰهُAnd Allah
أَنۢبَتَكُماَنۢ͏ْبَتَكُمْhas caused you to grow
مِّنَfrom
ٱلۡأَرۡضِالْاَرْضِthe earth
نَبَاتٗانَبَاتًا(as) a growth
17
And Allāh has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth.
ثُمَّThen
يُعِيدُكُمۡيُعِيْدُكُمْHe will return you
فِيهَافِيْهَاinto it
وَيُخۡرِجُكُمۡوَيُخْرِجُكُمْand bring you forth
إِخۡرَاجٗااِخْرَاجًا(a new) bringing forth
18
Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction.
وَٱللَّهُوَاللّٰهُAnd Allah
جَعَلَmade
لَكُمُfor you
ٱلۡأَرۡضَالْاَرْضَthe earth
بِسَاطٗابِسَاطًاan expanse
19
And Allāh has made for you the earth an expanse
لِّتَسۡلُكُواْلِّتَسْلُكُوْاThat you may go along
مِنۡهَامِنْهَاtherein
سُبُلٗاسُبُلًا(in) paths
فِجَاجٗافِجَاجًاwide
20
That you may follow therein roads of passage.'"
13 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allāh [due] grandeur 14 While He has created you in stages? 15 Do you not consider how Allāh has created seven heavens in layers 16 And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? 17 And Allāh has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth. 18 Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction. 19 And Allāh has made for you the earth an expanse 20 That you may follow therein roads of passage.'"
Noah said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss.
وَمَكَرُواْوَمَكَرُوْاAnd they have planned
مَكۡرٗامَكْرًاa plan
كُبَّارٗاكُبَّارًاgreat
22
And they conspired an immense conspiracy
وَقَالُواْوَقَالُوْاAnd they said
لَا(Do) not
تَذَرُنَّleave
ءَالِهَتَكُمۡاٰلِهَتَكُمْyour gods
وَلَاand (do) not
تَذَرُنَّleave
وَدّٗاوَدًّاWadd
وَلَاوَّلَاand not
سُوَاعٗاسُوَاعًاۙSuwa
وَلَاوَّلَاand not
يَغُوثَيَغُوْثَYaguth
وَيَعُوقَوَيَعُوْقَand Yauq
وَنَسۡرٗاوَنَسْرًاand Nasr
23
And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwāʿ or Yaghūth and Yaʿūq and Nasr.'
وَقَدۡوَقَدْAnd indeed
أَضَلُّواْاَضَلُّوْاthey have led astray
كَثِيرٗاۖكَثِيْرًاۚmany
وَلَاAnd not
تَزِدِincrease
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَالظّٰلِمِيْنَthe wrongdoers
إِلَّااِلَّاexcept
ضَلَٰلٗاضَلٰلًا(in) error
24
And already they have misled many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error."
مِّمَّامِمَّاBecause of
خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمۡخَطِيْ࢜ـٰٔتِهِمْtheir sins
أُغۡرِقُواْاُغْرِقُوْاthey were drowned
فَأُدۡخِلُواْفَاُدْخِلُوْاthen made to enter
نَارٗانَارًاۙ(the) Fire
فَلَمۡفَلَمْand not
يَجِدُواْيَجِدُوْاthey found
لَهُملَهُمْfor themselves
مِّنمِّنْfrom
دُونِدُوْنِbesides
ٱللَّهِاللّٰهِAllah
أَنصَارٗااَنْصَارًاany helpers
25
Because of their sins they were drowned and put into the Fire, and they found not for themselves besides Allāh [any] helpers.
21 Noah said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss. 22 And they conspired an immense conspiracy 23 And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwāʿ or Yaghūth and Yaʿūq and Nasr.' 24 And already they have misled many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error." 25 Because of their sins they were drowned and put into the Fire, and they found not for themselves besides Allāh [any] helpers.
And Noah said, "My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from among the disbelievers an inhabitant.
إِنَّكَاِنَّكَIndeed, You
إِناِنْif
تَذَرۡهُمۡتَذَرْهُمْYou leave them
يُضِلُّواْيُضِلُّوْاthey will mislead
عِبَادَكَYour slaves
وَلَاand not
يَلِدُوٓاْيَلِدُوْٓاthey will beget
إِلَّااِلَّاexcept
فَاجِرٗافَاجِرًاa wicked
كَفَّارٗاكَفَّارًاa disbeliever
27
Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [every] wicked one and [confirmed] disbeliever.
رَّبِّرَبِّMy Lord
ٱغۡفِرۡاغْفِرْForgive
لِيلِيْme
وَلِوَٰلِدَيَّوَلِوَالِدَيَّand my parents
وَلِمَنوَلِمَنْand whoever
دَخَلَenters
بَيۡتِيَبَيْتِيَmy house
مُؤۡمِنٗامُو͏ٔ͏ْمِنًاa believer
وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَوَّلِلْمُو͏ٔ͏ْمِنِيْنَand the believing men
وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِۖوَالْمُو͏ٔ͏ْمِنٰتِؕand the believing women
وَلَاAnd (do) not
تَزِدِincrease
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَالظّٰلِمِيْنَthe wrongdoers
إِلَّااِلَّاexcept
تَبَارَۢاتَبَارًا(in) destruction
28
My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house a believer and the believing men and believing women. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction."
26 And Noah said, "My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from among the disbelievers an inhabitant. 27 Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [every] wicked one and [confirmed] disbeliever. 28 My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house a believer and the believing men and believing women. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction."
