Consolation for the Prophet 1–5

Ayah 1

1. وَٱلضُّحَىٰوَالضُّحٰيBy the morning brightnessGenitive · مَجْرُور

By the morning brightness

Ayah 2

1. وَٱلَّيۡلِوَالَّيْلِAnd the nightGenitive · مَجْرُور
2. إِذَااِذَاwhenTime adverb · ظَرْف زَمَان
3. سَجَىٰسَجٰيit covers with darknessPerfect · Form I

And [by] the night when it covers with darkness,

Ayah 3

1. مَاNotNegative Harf · حَرْف نَفْي
2. وَدَّعَكَhas forsaken youPerfect · Form II
3. رَبُّكَyour LordNominative · مَرْفُوع
4. وَمَاand notNegative Harf · حَرْف نَفْي
5. قَلَىٰقَلٰيHe is displeasedPerfect · Form I

Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muḥammad], nor has He detested [you].

Ayah 4

1. وَلَلۡأٓخِرَةُوَلَلْاٰخِرَةُAnd surely the HereafterNominative · مَرْفُوع
2. خَيۡرٞخَيْرٌ(is) betterNominative · مَرْفُوع
3. لَّكَfor youPronoun · ضَمِير
4. مِنَthanPreposition · حَرْف جَرّ
5. ٱلۡأُولَىٰالْاُوْلٰيthe firstGenitive · مَجْرُور

And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life].

Ayah 5

1. وَلَسَوۡفَوَلَسَوْفَAnd soonFuture Harf · حَرْف اِسْتِقْبَال
2. يُعۡطِيكَيُعْطِيْكَwill give youImperfect · Form IV
3. رَبُّكَyour LordNominative · مَرْفُوع
4. فَتَرۡضَىٰٓفَتَرْضٰيthen you will be satisfiedImperfect · Form I

And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.

Allah's Past Favors to the Prophet 6–8

Ayah 6

1. أَلَمۡاَلَمْDid notNegative Harf · حَرْف نَفْي
2. يَجِدۡكَيَجِدْكَHe find youImperfect · Form I
3. يَتِيمٗايَتِيْمًاan orphanAccusative · مَنْصُوب
4. فَـَٔاوَىٰفَاٰوٰيand give shelterPerfect · Form IV

Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge?

Ayah 7

1. وَوَجَدَكَAnd He found youPerfect · Form I
2. ضَآلّٗاضَا࢜لًّاlostAccusative · مَنْصُوب
3. فَهَدَىٰفَهَدٰيso He guidedPerfect · Form I

And He found you lost and guided [you],

Ayah 8

1. وَوَجَدَكَAnd He found youPerfect · Form I
2. عَآئِلٗاعَا࢜ىِٕلًاin needAccusative · مَنْصُوب
3. فَأَغۡنَىٰفَاَغْنٰيso He made self-sufficientPerfect · Form I

And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient.

The Orphan and the Beggar 9–11

Ayah 9

1. فَأَمَّافَاَمَّاSo as forExplanation Harf · حَرْف تَفْصِيل
2. ٱلۡيَتِيمَالْيَتِيْمَthe orphanAccusative · مَنْصُوب
3. فَلَاthen (do) notProhibition Harf · حَرْف نَهْي
4. تَقۡهَرۡتَقْهَرْoppressImperfect · Form I

So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him].

Ayah 10

1. وَأَمَّاوَاَمَّاAnd as forExplanation Harf · حَرْف تَفْصِيل
2. ٱلسَّآئِلَالسَّا࢜ىِٕلَone who asksAccusative · مَنْصُوب
3. فَلَاthen (do) notProhibition Harf · حَرْف نَهْي
4. تَنۡهَرۡتَنْهَرْrepelImperfect · Form I

And as for the petitioner, do not repel [him].

Ayah 11

1. وَأَمَّاوَاَمَّاBut as forExplanation Harf · حَرْف تَفْصِيل
2. بِنِعۡمَةِبِنِعْمَةِ(the) FavorGenitive · مَجْرُور
3. رَبِّكَ(of) your LordGenitive · مَجْرُور
4. فَحَدِّثۡفَحَدِّثْnarrateImperative · Form II

But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it].
