Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned?
إِنَّااِنَّاIndeed, We
خَلَقۡنَاخَلَقْنَا[We] created
ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَالْاِنْسَانَman
مِنمِنْfrom
نُّطۡفَةٍنُّطْفَةٍa semen-drop
أَمۡشَاجٖاَمْشَاجٍࣗۖa mixture
نَّبۡتَلِيهِنَّبْتَلِيْهِ(that) We test him
فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُفَجَعَلْنٰهُso We made (for) him
سَمِيعَۢاسَمِيْعًاۢhearing
بَصِيرًابَصِيْرًاand sight
2
Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing.
إِنَّااِنَّاIndeed, We
هَدَيۡنَٰهُهَدَيْنٰهُguided him
ٱلسَّبِيلَالسَّبِيْلَ(to) the way
إِمَّااِمَّاwhether
شَاكِرٗاشَاكِرًا(he) be grateful
وَإِمَّاوَّاِمَّاand whether
كَفُورًاكَفُوْرًا(he) be ungrateful

Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful.
1 Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 2 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 3 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful.
Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze.
إِنَّاِنَّIndeed
ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَالْاَبْرَارَthe righteous
يَشۡرَبُونَيَشْرَبُوْنَwill drink
مِنمِنْfrom
كَأۡسٖكَاْسٍa cup
كَانَis
مِزَاجُهَاits mixture
كَافُورًاكَافُوْرًا(of) Kafur
5
Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kāfūr,
عَيۡنٗاعَيْنًاA spring
يَشۡرَبُيَّشْرَبُwill drink
بِهَاfrom it
عِبَادُ(the) slaves
ٱللَّهِاللّٰهِ(of) Allah
يُفَجِّرُونَهَايُفَجِّرُوْنَهَاcausing it to gush forth
تَفۡجِيرٗاتَفْجِيْرًاabundantly
6
A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allāh will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance].
4 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 5 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kāfūr, 6 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allāh will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance].
They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread.
وَيُطۡعِمُونَوَيُطْعِمُوْنَAnd they feed
ٱلطَّعَامَالطَّعَامَthe food
عَلَىٰعَلٰيin spite of
حُبِّهِۦحُبِّهٖlove (for) it
مِسۡكِينٗامِسْكِيْنًا(to the) needy
وَيَتِيمٗاوَّيَتِيْمًاand (the) orphan
وَأَسِيرًاوَّاَسِيْرًاand (the) captive
8
And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive,
إِنَّمَااِنَّمَاOnly
نُطۡعِمُكُمۡنُطْعِمُكُمْwe feed you
لِوَجۡهِلِوَجْهِfor (the) Countenance
ٱللَّهِاللّٰهِ(of) Allah
لَاNot
نُرِيدُنُرِيْدُwe desire
مِنكُمۡمِنْكُمْfrom you
جَزَآءٗجَزَا࢜ءًany reward
وَلَاوَّلَاand not
شُكُورًاشُكُوْرًاthanks
9
[Saying], "We feed you only for the face [i.e., approval] of Allāh. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.
إِنَّااِنَّاIndeed, we
نَخَافُfear
مِنمِنْfrom
رَّبِّنَاour Lord
يَوۡمًايَوْمًاa Day
عَبُوسٗاعَبُوْسًاharsh
قَمۡطَرِيرٗاقَمْطَرِيْرًاand distressful
10
Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful."
7 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 8 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 9 [Saying], "We feed you only for the face [i.e., approval] of Allāh. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 10 Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful."
وَلَقَّىٰهُمۡوَلَقّٰىهُمْand will cause them to meet
نَضۡرَةٗنَضْرَةًradiance
وَسُرُورٗاوَّسُرُوْرًاand happiness
11
So Allāh will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness
وَجَزَىٰهُموَجَزٰىهُمْAnd will reward them
بِمَاbecause
صَبَرُواْصَبَرُوْاthey were patient
جَنَّةٗجَنَّةً(with) a Garden
وَحَرِيرٗاوَّحَرِيْرًاand silk
12
And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments].
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَمُّتَّكِـِٕيْنَReclining
فِيهَافِيْهَاtherein
عَلَىعَلَيon
ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِۖالْاَرَا࢜ىِٕكِۚcouches
لَاNot
يَرَوۡنَيَرَوْنَthey will see
فِيهَافِيْهَاtherein
شَمۡسٗاشَمْسًاsun
وَلَاوَّلَاand not
زَمۡهَرِيرٗازَمْهَرِيْرًاfreezing cold
13
[They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold.
وَدَانِيَةًAnd near
عَلَيۡهِمۡعَلَيْهِمْabove them
ظِلَٰلُهَاظِلٰلُهَا(are) its shades
وَذُلِّلَتۡوَذُلِّلَتْand will hang low
قُطُوفُهَاقُطُوْفُهَاits cluster of fruits
تَذۡلِيلٗاتَذْلِيْلًاdangling low
14
And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance.
11 So Allāh will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 12 And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. 13 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 14 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance.
And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass],
قَوَارِيرَاْقَوَارِيْرَا۟ؔCrystal-clear
مِنمِنْof
فِضَّةٖفِضَّةٍsilver
قَدَّرُوهَاقَدَّرُوْهَاThey will determine its
تَقۡدِيرٗاتَقْدِيْرًاmeasure
16
Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure.
وَيُسۡقَوۡنَوَيُسْقَوْنَAnd they will be given to drink
فِيهَافِيْهَاtherein
كَأۡسٗاكَاْسًاa cup
كَانَis
مِزَاجُهَاits mixture
زَنجَبِيلًازَنْجَبِيْلًا(of) Zanjabil
17
And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger
عَيۡنٗاعَيْنًاA spring
فِيهَافِيْهَاtherein
تُسَمَّىٰتُسَمّٰيnamed
سَلۡسَبِيلٗاسَلْسَبِيْلًاSalsabil
18
[From] a fountain within it [i.e., Paradise] named Salsabeel.
15 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 16 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 17 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 18 [From] a fountain within it [i.e., Paradise] named Salsabeel.
There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls.
وَإِذَاوَاِذَاAnd when
رَأَيۡتَرَاَيْتَyou look
ثَمَّthen
رَأَيۡتَرَاَيْتَyou will see
نَعِيمٗانَعِيْمًاblessings
وَمُلۡكٗاوَّمُلْكًاand a kingdom
كَبِيرًاكَبِيْرًاgreat
20
And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion.
عَٰلِيَهُمۡعٰلِيَهُمْUpon them
ثِيَابُ(will be) garments
سُندُسٍسُنْدُسٍ(of) fine silk
خُضۡرٞخُضْرٌgreen
وَإِسۡتَبۡرَقٞۖوَّاِسْتَبْرَقٌؗand heavy brocade
وَحُلُّوٓاْوَّحُلُّوْٓاAnd they will be adorned
أَسَاوِرَاَسَاوِرَ(with) bracelets
مِنمِنْof
فِضَّةٖفِضَّةٍۚsilver
وَسَقَىٰهُمۡوَسَقٰىهُمْand will give them to drink
رَبُّهُمۡرَبُّهُمْtheir Lord
شَرَابٗاشَرَابًاa drink
طَهُورًاطَهُوْرًاpure
21
Upon them [i.e., the inhabitants] will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink.
إِنَّاِنَّIndeed
هَٰذَاهٰذَاthis
كَانَis
لَكُمۡلَكُمْfor you
جَزَآءٗجَزَا࢜ءًa reward
وَكَانَوَّكَانَand has been
سَعۡيُكُمسَعْيُكُمْyour effort
مَّشۡكُورًامَّشْكُوْرًاappreciated
22
[And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated."
19 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 20 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 21 Upon them [i.e., the inhabitants] will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 22 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated."
Indeed, it is We who have sent down to you, [O Muḥammad], the Qur’ān progressively.
فَٱصۡبِرۡفَاصْبِرْSo be patient
لِحُكۡمِلِحُكْمِfor (the) Command
رَبِّكَ(of) your Lord
وَلَاand (do) not
تُطِعۡتُطِعْobey
مِنۡهُمۡمِنْهُمْfrom them
ءَاثِمًااٰثِمًاany sinner
أَوۡاَوْor
كَفُورٗاكَفُوْرًاdisbeliever
24
So be patient for the decision of your Lord and do not obey from among them a sinner or ungrateful [disbeliever].
وَٱذۡكُرِوَاذْكُرِAnd remember
ٱسۡمَاسْمَ(the) name
رَبِّكَ(of) your Lord
بُكۡرَةٗبُكْرَةًmorning
وَأَصِيلٗاوَّاَصِيْلًاand evening
25
And mention the name of your Lord [in prayer] morning and evening
وَمِنَAnd of
ٱلَّيۡلِالَّيْلِthe night
فَٱسۡجُدۡفَاسْجُدْprostrate
لَهُۥلَهٗto Him
وَسَبِّحۡهُوَسَبِّحْهُand glorify Him
لَيۡلٗالَيْلًاa night
طَوِيلًاطَوِيْلًاlong
26
And during the night prostrate to Him and exalt [i.e., praise] Him a long [part of the] night.
23 Indeed, it is We who have sent down to you, [O Muḥammad], the Qur’ān progressively. 24 So be patient for the decision of your Lord and do not obey from among them a sinner or ungrateful [disbeliever]. 25 And mention the name of your Lord [in prayer] morning and evening 26 And during the night prostrate to Him and exalt [i.e., praise] Him a long [part of the] night.
Indeed, these [disbelievers] love the immediate and leave behind them a grave Day.
نَّحۡنُنَحْنُWe
خَلَقۡنَٰهُمۡخَلَقْنٰهُمْcreated them
وَشَدَدۡنَآوَشَدَدْنَا͏ٓand We strengthened
أَسۡرَهُمۡۖاَسْرَهُمْۚtheir forms
وَإِذَاوَاِذَاand when
شِئۡنَاشِي͏ٔ͏ْنَاWe will
بَدَّلۡنَآبَدَّلْنَا͏ٓWe can change
أَمۡثَٰلَهُمۡاَمْثَالَهُمْtheir likeness[es]
تَبۡدِيلًاتَبْدِيْلًا(with) a change
28
We have created them and strengthened their forms, and when We will, We can change their likenesses with [complete] alteration.
إِنَّاِنَّIndeed
هَٰذِهِۦهٰذِهٖthis
تَذۡكِرَةٞۖتَذْكِرَةٌۚ(is) a reminder
فَمَنفَمَنْso whoever
شَآءَشَا࢜ءَwills
ٱتَّخَذَاتَّخَذَlet him take
إِلَىٰاِلٰيto
رَبِّهِۦرَبِّهٖhis Lord
سَبِيلٗاسَبِيْلًاa way
29
Indeed, this is a reminder, so he who wills may take to his Lord a way.
وَمَاAnd not
تَشَآءُونَتَشَا࢜ءُوْنَyou will
إِلَّآاِلَّا͏ٓexcept
أَناَنْthat
يَشَآءَيَّشَا࢜ءَwills
ٱللَّهُۚاللّٰهُؕAllah
إِنَّاِنَّIndeed
ٱللَّهَاللّٰهَAllah
كَانَis
عَلِيمًاعَلِيْمًاAll-Knower
حَكِيمٗاحَكِيْمًاAll-Wise
30
And you do not will except that Allāh wills. Indeed, Allāh is ever Knowing and Wise.
يُدۡخِلُيُّدْخِلُHe admits
مَنمَنْwhom
يَشَآءُيَّشَا࢜ءُHe wills
فِيفِيْinto
رَحۡمَتِهِۦۚرَحْمَتِهٖؕHis mercy
وَٱلظَّٰلِمِينَوَالظّٰلِمِيْنَbut (for) the wrongdoers
أَعَدَّاَعَدَّHe has prepared
لَهُمۡلَهُمْfor them
عَذَابًاa punishment
أَلِيمَۢااَلِيْمًاpainful
31
He admits whom He wills into His mercy; but the wrongdoers - He has prepared for them a painful punishment.
27 Indeed, these [disbelievers] love the immediate and leave behind them a grave Day. 28 We have created them and strengthened their forms, and when We will, We can change their likenesses with [complete] alteration. 29 Indeed, this is a reminder, so he who wills may take to his Lord a way. 30 And you do not will except that Allāh wills. Indeed, Allāh is ever Knowing and Wise. 31 He admits whom He wills into His mercy; but the wrongdoers - He has prepared for them a painful punishment.
