The First Revelation 1–5

Ayah 1

1. ٱقۡرَأۡاِقْرَاْReadImperative · Form I
2. بِٱسۡمِبِاسْمِin (the) nameGenitive · مَجْرُور
3. رَبِّكَ(of) your LordGenitive · مَجْرُور
4. ٱلَّذِيالَّذِيْthe One WhoRelative pronoun · اِسْم مَوْصُول
5. خَلَقَcreated Perfect · Form I

Recite in the name of your Lord who created –

Ayah 2

1. خَلَقَHe createdPerfect · Form I
2. ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَالْاِنْسَانَmanAccusative · مَنْصُوب
3. مِنۡمِنْfromPreposition · حَرْف جَرّ
4. عَلَقٍa clinging substanceGenitive · مَجْرُور

Created man from a clinging substance.

Ayah 3

1. ٱقۡرَأۡاِقْرَاْReadImperative · Form I
2. وَرَبُّكَand your LordNominative · مَرْفُوع
3. ٱلۡأَكۡرَمُالْاَكْرَمُ(is) the Most GenerousNominative · مَرْفُوع

Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous -

Ayah 4

1. ٱلَّذِيالَّذِيْThe One WhoRelative pronoun · اِسْم مَوْصُول
2. عَلَّمَtaughtPerfect · Form II
3. بِٱلۡقَلَمِبِالْقَلَمِby the penGenitive · مَجْرُور

Who taught by the pen –

Ayah 5

1. عَلَّمَTaughtPerfect · Form II
2. ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَالْاِنْسَانَmanAccusative · مَنْصُوب
3. مَاwhatRelative pronoun · اِسْم مَوْصُول
4. لَمۡلَمْnotNegative Harf · حَرْف نَفْي
5. يَعۡلَمۡيَعْلَمْhe knewImperfect · Form I

Taught man that which he knew not.

Man's Arrogance in Self-Sufficiency 6–8

Ayah 6

1. كـَلَّآكَلَّا͏ٓNayAversion Harf · حَرْف رَدْع
2. إِنَّاِنَّIndeedAccusative Harf · حَرْف نَصْب
3. ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَالْاِنْسَانَmanAccusative · مَنْصُوب
4. لَيَطۡغَىٰٓلَيَطْغٰٓيsurely transgressesImperfect · Form I

No! [But] indeed, man transgresses

Ayah 7

1. أَناَنْThatSubordinating Harf · حَرْف مَصْدَرِيّ
2. رَّءَاهُرَّاٰهُhe sees himselfPerfect · Form I
3. ٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰٓاسْتَغْنٰيself-sufficientPerfect · Form X

Because he sees himself self-sufficient.

Ayah 8

1. إِنَّاِنَّIndeedAccusative Harf · حَرْف نَصْب
2. إِلَىٰاِلٰيtoPreposition · حَرْف جَرّ
3. رَبِّكَyour LordGenitive · مَجْرُور
4. ٱلرُّجۡعَىٰٓالرُّجْعٰي(is) the returnAccusative · مَنْصُوب

Indeed, to your Lord is the return.

Stopping a Servant from Prayer 9–14

Ayah 9

1. أَرَءَيۡتَاَرَءَيْتَHave you seenPerfect · Form I
2. ٱلَّذِيالَّذِيْthe one whoRelative pronoun · اِسْم مَوْصُول
3. يَنۡهَىٰيَنْهٰيforbidsImperfect · Form I

Have you seen the one who forbids

Ayah 10

1. عَبۡدًاعَبْدًاA slaveAccusative · مَنْصُوب
2. إِذَااِذَاwhenTime adverb · ظَرْف زَمَان
3. صَلَّىٰٓصَلّٰيhe praysPerfect · Form II

A servant when he prays?

Ayah 11

1. أَرَءَيۡتَاَرَءَيْتَHave you seenPerfect · Form I
2. إِناِنْifConditional Harf · حَرْف شَرْط
3. كَانَhe isPerfect · Form I
4. عَلَىعَلَيuponPreposition · حَرْف جَرّ
5. ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓالْهُدٰٓي[the] guidanceGenitive · مَجْرُور

Have you seen if he is upon guidance

Ayah 12

1. أَوۡاَوْOrConjunction · حَرْف عَطْف
2. أَمَرَاَمَرَhe enjoinsPerfect · Form I
3. بِٱلتَّقۡوَىٰٓبِالتَّقْوٰي[of the] righteousnessGenitive · مَجْرُور

Or enjoins righteousness?

Ayah 13

1. أَرَءَيۡتَاَرَءَيْتَHave you seenPerfect · Form I
2. إِناِنْifConditional Harf · حَرْف شَرْط
3. كَذَّبَhe deniesPerfect · Form II
4. وَتَوَلَّىٰٓوَتَوَلّٰيand turns awayPerfect · Form V

Have you seen if he denies and turns away -

Ayah 14

1. أَلَمۡاَلَمْDoes notNegative Harf · حَرْف نَفْي
2. يَعۡلَميَعْلَمْhe knowImperfect · Form I
3. بِأَنَّبِاَنَّthatAccusative Harf · حَرْف نَصْب
4. ٱللَّهَاللّٰهَAllahAccusative · مَنْصُوب
5. يَرَىٰيَرٰيseesImperfect · Form I

Does he not know that Allāh sees?

Warning to the Persecutor 15–19

Ayah 15

1. كـَلَّاكَلَّاNayAversion Harf · حَرْف رَدْع
2. لَئِنلَىِٕنْIfConditional Harf · حَرْف شَرْط
3. لَّمۡلَّمْnotNegative Harf · حَرْف نَفْي
4. يَنتَهِيَنْتَهِ࣢ۙhe desistsImperfect · Form VIII
5. لَنَسۡفَعَۢالَنَسْفَعًاۢsurely We will drag himImperfect · Form I
6. بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِبِالنَّاصِيَةِby the forelockGenitive · مَجْرُور

No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock –
